IPortable SunBlog Support more Customizations

Right now the SunBlog(v2.3.18) have implemented the export/import feature which make it IPortable.

Import

Imporing data into your blog is many times, necessary and useful. If you are moving from another host, or just to start your blog anew, then import data into your blog may be the answer. Right now SunBlog supports the importing data feature. In many cases, posts, comments, categories, tags, and users, can be imported. In future version, it will support import content from a number external sources, i.e the DNN core blog or other blog engines.

Export

Exporting your blog data (posts, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags) is sometimes necessary and useful. If you are moving to a new host, export content from you local machine to deploy on your production server or just want a backup of your blog, then Exporting your blog is the answer. SunBlog Export will create an XML file for you to save to your website. The format file will contain your posts, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags. Once the Export file is created, that file can be used for import by “Import Panel”.

New Admin Area Is Coming

Thus far, Sunblog has relied on the built-in support to allow LiveWriter to manage posts. This has worked out great so far and allowed us to focus on other area's of the system. However, a CMS/Blog Engine isn't complete until it has a built-in, easily accessible administration area.

You can expect SunBlog’s administration area to be heavily influenced from the core Forum module. They've done such a great job on their administration that we are borrowing their best ideas. The screenshot show below:

Important Note: SunBlog and Skin DocType

Yesterday I had received some feedbacks for snowcovered about the "SunBlog" module as following:

when I hit Add Blog in Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP. Note that the dialog box opens up in the upper left hand corner, and its contents cannot be seen. Yes, it works in Internet Explorer 7 or firefox. The screenshot is here:

Wow, that is because the SunBlog had included the AjaxControlToolkit dll and if you want to popup correctly, you should be sure that you had apply the xhtml1-transitional.dtd in your skin, for example, if your DNN website version is 4.x or below and your current skin name is "xx_yourskin.ascx", you should insert the doctype declaration file(you can find the detail declaration in the attachment which can be downloaded). Or if your website is above 5.x, you just can apply the "Fallback Skin Doctype" option in you Host Setting. Download zip: xx_YourSkin.doctype.xml
